(CHICAGO) – FOX Sports Net Chicago today announced that it will debut the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT on Monday, July 17. The show represents a bold new format in regional sports programming that will deliver 30-minutes of live regional sports news nightly at 11:00 PM. James J. Corno, FOX Sports Net Chicago’s Senior Vice President/General Manager, made the announcement.
The REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT will provide a comprehensive look at the world of sports from a regional perspective. The format provides for heavy emphasis on key local stories, and also includes important national stories and how they impact local fans. The REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT will follow FOX Sports Net’s NATIONAL SPORTS REPORT, which airs at 10:00 PM.
“Providing live, local sports news coverage on a daily basis is something we’re uniquely capable of doing,” said Corno. “We have a long history of delivering high-quality, local sports programming, now, with the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT, we will be providing late-breaking coverage to our fans here in Chicago about the teams, stories and issues they care about most.”
The new initiative strengthens FOX Sports Net’s commitment to being the ultimate source for regional sports. The REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT will be immediately followed at 11:30 PM by THE LAST WORD with Jim Rome, along with a late edition of the NATIONAL SPORTS REPORT at 12 midnight.
FOX Sports Net Chicago recently announced the hiring of Eric Goodman as its lead anchor for the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT. Goodman, who will also serve as the primary host of The Game Room beginning Tuesday, May 16, has been one of the lead sports anchors at CNN/SI and CNN for the past three and a half years.
All the reporting and newsgathering for the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT will be done locally, with correspondents and reporters covering professional, collegiate and high school sports news. The show will be telecast live from FOX Sports Net Chicago’s REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT studios in downtown Chicago.
More news and information regarding the REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT’S July 17 debut on FOX Sports Net will be released in the coming weeks.
