News 12 Networks Honored With 13 New York Emmy Awards

WOODBURY, NEW YORK, April 20, 2000 The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has honored News 12 Networks with 13 Emmy Awards, as announced on Sunday April 16 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. News 12 Long Island received the most Emmy awards for a local news station with a total of 11 awards. News 12 The Bronx and News 12 New Jersey each received one award as well. Notably, photographer Michael DelGiudice took home an impressive 7 statues, 6 for News 12 Long Island and 1 for News 12 The Bronx.

The winners from News 12 Long Island include the following categories; Outstanding Continuing News Story (A Courageous Journey – Michael DelGiudice, Bob Butler, Doug Geed), Outstanding Environmental Programming (Earth Day Tips – Bob Butler, Tom Aviles, Sue Caron), Outstanding Single News Feature (Goose on the Loose – Greg Cergol, Tom Aviles), Outstanding Political Programming (Take the Money and Run – Mark Lagerkvist, Debi Gade, David Leibowitz, Cathy Rhinehardt), Outstanding Sports Programming (The Pro – Michael DelGiudice, Scott Feldman), Outstanding Camera: Spot or Single News Feature (Tom Aviles), Outstanding Camera: Entertainment (Michael DelGiudice), Outstanding Sports Camera (Michael DelGiudice), Outstanding Sports Editing (Michael DelGiudice), Outstanding Entertainment Editing (Michael DelGiudice, Jena Mihalovic), Outstanding Spot or Single News Feature Editor (Tom Aviles).

News 12 The Bronx received and Emmy for; Outstanding Camera: Short Form/PSA/Promo (Michael DelGiudice) and News 12 New Jersey received one for Outstanding On-Camera Achievement (George Falkowski.)

The New York Emmy Awards are given for achievements originally broadcast or cablecast in New York or
Northern New Jersey. Winners were announced at the 43rd Annual New York Emmy Awards Ceremony Sunday, April 16 at The Plaza in New York City.
