Cablevision’s Rainbow Media won a total of 26 New York Emmy awards for outstanding regional programming at the 43rd annual New York Emmy Awards held Sunday April 16 at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan. Rainbow, whose New York-based regional programming portfolio consists of the News 12 Networks, the MetroChannels and 50 percent of the Madison Square Garden and Fox Sports New York networks, won more New York Emmys this year than any other programming company.
News 12 Networks garnered 13 Emmys: 11 for Long Island, one for New Jersey, and one for the Bronx. The MetroChannels and Madison Square Garden Networks each won four Emmys and Fox Sports New York received five.
“Rainbow was the first media company to truly understand the importance of regional programming and, over the years we have perfected it to an art form,” said Josh Sapan, president & CEO of Rainbow Media Holdings, Inc. “This is a tremendous honor and reflective of an unrivaled dedication to quality and innovation in regional programming.”
