NEW YORK, NY, November 14, 2000 – Metro is inviting New York tri-state TV viewers to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend Welcome Back, Kotter style – with a sidesplitting, 48-hour marathon of this beloved ’70s sitcom classic, a cornerstone of the network’s classic TV block, TVNY. Metro (Time Warner Cable – Channel 70, Cablevision – Channel 16) will air this non-stop, two-day celebration of Sweathog antics from Thursday, November 23 at 9 AM through Saturday, November 25 at 9 AM.
Metro has all the trimmings including a special host – Ron Pallilo. The actor who brought the ultimate high school dweeb, Arnold Horshack, to life on the small screen will be there to introduce each episode and provide backstory and trivia about both the memorable series and his famed co-stars.
Welcome Back, Kotter chronicles the always hilarious hijinks of underachieving Brooklyn high schoolers, named the “Sweathogs,” and their teacher Gabe Kotter. Gabe Kaplan stars as the unorthodox instructor, friend and mentor to these delightful delinquents which include the honk-voice Horshack (Ron Pallilo), the chilled-out, super smooth Washington (Lawrence Hilton Jacobs), the Groucho-obsessed Epstein (Robert Heyges) and the hunkiest Sweathog of all, Vinnie Barbarino, played by the now big-screen idol, John Travolta.
So sit back, relax, pop in the TV turkey dinner
