New Agreement Calls for Exclusive Marketing and Programming Opportunities
SUNRISE, FL – Fox Sports Net Florida and the University of Miami today announced a multi-year marketing and programming extension. The announcement was made by Brad Heard, Fox Sports Net Florida Vice President of Programming and Production and Paul Dee, University of Miami Athletic Director.
The agreement provides Fox Sports Net the rights to annually produce and televise over 43 live and tape delayed University of Miami athletic events each season, including 11 UM football games, 15 Hurricanes baseball games, up to 10 men’s basketball and six women’s basketball match ups, and the annual CanesFest Spring Football scrimmage.
“The University of Miami has been a very important partner for our network over the years and, since UM is one of the most prestigious athletic programs in the country, these rights have been highly sought after by others. Furthering this partnership allows us to continue to provide our viewers with unparalleled local programming in addition to strong national programming. It also clearly reinforces our commitment to viewers, affiliates and our advertisers that we deliver the most well rounded daily sports lineup in the state,” noted Heard
“Our relationship with Fox Sports Net is valuable to the University of Miami and being able to extend our partnership means that our students, alumni and fans will be able to continue to follow our athletic events each year on the state’s only 24-hour sports network,” added Dee.
Fox Sports Net will also produce and televise special season-long programming including coaches shows for various UM athletics and pre and post season specials. Beginning next spring, Fox Sports Net will become the title sponsor of the annual CanesFest Football scrimmage. Additionally, Fox Sports Net will conduct live, online chats with UM head coaches and high profile players during the year among other exclusive marketing opportunities.
Hurricanes fans can also count on nightly coverage by Fox Sports Net’s two new live sports news shows, FLORIDA SPORTS TONIGHT and the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT. FLORIDA SPORTS TONIGHT, weeknights at 7pm, brings viewers a 30-minute round up of all the day’s top sports news stories from around the state and a preview of that night’s action. The nightly 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT with anchors Ned Smith, Keith Lebowitz and Randy McIlvoy, brings viewers the most in-depth, up-to-the-minute Florida sports news seven nights a week at 11pm.
