IFC and Clearview Cinemas Partner on Aspiring Filmmaker Promotion

Think there’s a better way to say “don’t talk during the movie?” The Independent Film Channel and Clearview Cinemas are giving aspiring film makers a chance to prove it. Jeff Jackson, Director, Strategic Partnerships at IFC and Morten Gotterup, Vice President, Marketing at Clearview Cinemas, today announced a joint promotion, running through February 28th 2002, inviting creative film makers to create a one minute “policy trailer” to be shown at Clearview Cinemas. The winning trailer will air prior to every film at all Clearview Cinemas 59 theaters in New York and New Jersey for one year, and be debuted at a world premiere screening at the legendary Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan.

“IFC is proud to join with Clearview Cinemas for a campaign that will not only tap into the creative nature of our audience, but also provide them the medium to be discovered. This cross promotion with Clearview Cinemas provides a way for both corporations to extend our promise to the consumer by presenting access to the most innovative and independently creative mediums in entertainment” said Jackson.

Clearview Cinemas and IFC developed a humorous 30-second spot announcing the policy trailer promotion that will begin airing in theaters and on IFC on December 15. Guidelines for the trailer, which is designed to inform patrons of the theater’s rules of behavior such as “no smoking, no talking,” can be found at IFCTV.com and ClearviewCinemas.com.

“We think Clearview Cinemas and IFC share similar independent thinking, creative audiences who will embrace this type of promotion,” said Gotterup. “We know that many aspiring film makers will have a lot of fun with the development of a policy trailer – and we’re pleased to be able to showcase the most creative approach on all of Clearview’s screens, which will be seen by millions of moviegoers.”

Clearview Cinemas currently operates 59 theaters with 279 screens in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

The Independent Film Channel (IFC), managed and operated by Bravo Networks, is the first and most widely distributed channel dedicated to independent film presented 24 hours a day, uncut and commercial-free.
