Jonathan C. Knopf Named News Director And General Manager For News 12 New Jersey

Jonathan C. Knopf has been named news director and general manager of News 12 New Jersey, effective March 5, 2001. In announcing his appointment, News 12 Networks senior vice president Patrick Dolan called Knopf, “a highly experienced television news manager who will help move News 12 New Jersey to a new level, building on its already strong foundation.”

Knopf joins News 12 New Jersey from the position of news director at WLFL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. He has also been news director at WCBD-TV in Charleston, South Carolina.

In addition to being an accomplished journalist, Knopf has broad experience with the research and marketing of television news. He was a senior account executive with one of the largest media consulting firms, Audience Research and Development, serving 16 television stations in the areas of news systems, staff development, promotion and strategic planning.

“Jonathan has command of all the elements necessary to move News 12 New Jersey forward,” said Steven Weinberg, vice president, operations, for News 12 Networks.

Knopf has been an executive producer at television stations in Texas and Louisiana. He started his professional life as a radio reporter in Dallas. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Trinity University in San Antonio.

Knopf succeeds Jeffrey Marks, whose appointment as News 12 Networks vice president for training and network coordination was announced recently.

News 12 New Jersey is the 24-hour regional news channel for New Jersey, reaching more than 1,700,000 homes. The network will mark five years on the air on March 26, 2001. News 12 New Jersey is a program service of Rainbow Media Holdings, Inc.
