Series Serves as Cornerstone of “Fashion Spectacular” in April
JERICHO, NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 22, 2001 – Cindy Crawford will host a four-part series chronicling the history of fashion titled FASHION FLASHBACK, on WE: WOMEN’S ENTERTAINMENT. FASHION FLASHBACK will air every Saturday at 8:00PM beginning April 7, 2001. FASHION FLASHBACK is the cornerstone of WE: WOMEN’S ENTERTAINMENT‘s month-long salute to fashion in April, the FASHION SPECTACULAR. The programming event is comprised of movie marathons, original premiere specials and documentaries, and interstitial spotlights on today’s hottest designers and their creations.
FASHION FLASHBACK examines how women have defined themselves with fashion throughout history. With Crawford as their guide, viewers get an in-depth look at fashion favorites for women – from the bikini to the wedding dress – and see how past designs have inspired the present. FASHION FLASHBACK colorfully illustrates how political, cultural and social changes have affected the evolution of fashion. Inherent is how women have changed and how fashion followed.
Every Saturday night after FASHION FLASHBACK the network presents “Hoopskirt Dreams,” two back-to-back, fashion-infused movies. Today’s top designers unveil their spring collections in programming segments throughout the month. WE: WOMEN’S ENTERTAINMENT also presents three exclusive specials in April. The life and career of designer Donatella Versace will be profiled in a 30-minute documentary premiering Sunday, April 8. Vogue editor Anna Wintour is the subject of a one-hour documentary BOSS WOMAN, premiering on April 15 and WOMEN & SHOES: A LOVE STORY, a 30-minute special which examines women’s fascination with footwear, airs April 22. WE will also present episodes of the popular series “Great Romances” featuring two of this century’s most stylish personalities, including Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and Oleg Cassini.
FASHION FLASHBACK host Cindy Crawford is one of the most recognizable faces in the world, having appeared on over 400 magazine covers throughout Europe and the United States. She has worked in television, film and publishing, establishing an extensive list of credits, including MTV’s “House of Style,” ABC-TV’s “Sex with Cindy Crawford” and FOX-TV’s ” Concert for Life.” She is seen worldwide as the face of Revlon Cosmetics and is married to businessman Rande Gerber. They have a son, Presley Walker Gerber.
