CLEVELAND – Fox Sports Net Ohio today announced it will telecast six one-hour special programs featuring the Kentucky Speedway. The show will capture the essence of the speedway and provide an outlet for Tri-State race fans to get information about the track and racing in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Steve Liverani, senior vice president and general manager, Fox Sports Net Ohio, made the announcement.
The first special will preview the 2002 season and air after the Daytona 500 (show dates will be announced at a later date). Four of the programs will air prior to each major event weekend at the track May through August. The November program will wrap-up the season and look ahead to 2003.
“Providing regional sports programming has been, and continues to be, an important focus of our network,” said Liverani. “Race fans in the Tri-State area will now have a place to turn to for the latest in local racing action.”
The specials will be hosted by Jim Day of the Ohio Sports Report, and Tim Bray, Director of Communications at Kentucky Speedway. Cincinnati racing analyst Bob Schmitt will also be a contributor to the programs.
“The specials are designed to be the fans source for Kentucky Speedway information,” said Tim Bray. “It’s been our goal to illustrate our venue and raise the profile of the great racing in this region through a regular magazine-style show since our opening. We are grateful Fox Sports Net Ohio is willing to partner with us in this exciting new venture.”
