Giants & A’s Season Openers only on Fox Sports Net
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Fox Sports Net, the cable television home of the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s, today announced a comprehensive 120 game schedule for the 2002 Major League Baseball season. Fox Sports Net will offer viewers a schedule of 60 Giants games (40 home, 20 road) and 60 A’s contests (41 home, 19 road). The announcement was made today by Jeff Krolik, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Fox Sports Net Bay Area.
Fox Sports Net kicks off its schedule on March 29 at 7:00 PM in a preseason match-up as the Giants host their cross-bay rival A’s. Fox Sports Net’s coverage of the Giants season will begin with their Opening Day game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road on Tuesday, April 2 at 1:00 PM. The Giants 60 game schedule on Fox Sports Net features seven games against the defending World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks (May 22, 27, 29; July 4, 5; and September 6, 8) and nine contests against division rival Dodgers (April 2, 3, 9,10; July 28; and September 9, 16, 17, 18).
Fox Sports Net begins it 60 game schedule of the 2001 AL Wild Card winning A’s with their season opener against the Texas Rangers at home on April 1 at 7:00 PM. Highlighting Fox Sports Net’s A’s telecast schedule are seven contests against the defending AL West Champion Seattle Mariners (April 16, 17; June 3, 5, 26, 27; and September 25) and two match-ups against Jason Giambi and the New York Yankees (April 24 and May 1).
“We’re pleased to provide our viewers with a comprehensive telecast schedule of 120 Giants and A’s games,” said Krolik. “Fans can look forward to exciting Giants and A’s baseball on Fox Sports Net all season long.”
Each weeknight at 10:00 PM or immediately following game coverage, Fox Sports Net’s BEST DAMN SPORTS SHOW PERIOD tackles topical sports stories of the day and are discussed in an opinionated and humorous way by personalities: actor Tom Arnold, former MLB slugger John Kruk, former NBA star John Salley, former Pro Bowl defensive tackle D’Marco Farr, and host Chris Rose. The BDSSP cast tosses around sports conversation from the fans’ and players’ points of view with a no-holds-barred approach. Blending sports and comedy with an irreverent tone, BDSSP also features special guests with the guys in their living-room style set.
On nights when BDSSP follows game coverage, the network will break away during the program for two live post-game updates from the ballpark.
“Best Damn Sports Show Period has been enthusiastically received by our viewers since its introduction. It provides viewers with a compelling combination of sports and entertainment programming, delivered with an attitude that has clearly resonated with our audience,” added Krolik.
