Fox Sports Net Florida Announces 2003 Florida Marlins Telecast Schedule

Comprehensive 98-Game Schedule Unveiled

(SUNRISE, FL) – Fox Sports Net Florida, the exclusive television rights holder for Marlins baseball, today announced a comprehensive 98-game cable telecast schedule for the Florida Marlins tenth anniversary season, including 95 regular season games and three live Spring Training match-ups. Fox Sports Net Florida’s Emmy-Award winning coverage of Florida Marlins baseball begins Sunday, March 2 with live Grapefruit League action against the St. Louis Cardinals (1:05pm). Fox Sports Net will also televise Spring Training match-ups against the New York Mets on Thursday, March 13 (7:05pm) and St. Louis on Thursday, March 27 (1:05pm). All televised Spring Training games will originate from Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.

Fox Sports Net begins its 2003 regular season coverage Wednesday, April 2 at 7:00pm as the Marlins host the Philadelphia Phillies at Pro Player Stadium. The complete 95-game regular season telecast schedule features 46 home and 49 away match-ups with highlights including nine games against Chipper Jones, Gary Sheffield and the Atlanta Braves, 10 meetings with Mike Piazza and the New York Mets, and 10 games against Jim Thome and the Philadelphia Phillies. This season’s interleague match ups include home games against Oakland and road games against Texas and Boston.

Returning to the booth to call Marlins baseball on Fox Sports Net are play-by-play announcer Len Kasper and analyst Tommy Hutton. Kasper enters his second season with Fox Sports Net Florida while Hutton, a former Major League first baseman, returns for his seventh season with descriptive color commentary. Craig Minervini returns for his second season on Fox Sports Net as host of MARLINS ON DECK, the 30-minute pre-game show televised prior to each game on the network.

Fox Sports Net Florida will once again produce a total of 150 Marlins games for cable and broadcast television during the 2003 season. Director Jim Holly returns for his sixth season with the team and 15th season directing live professional sports events. New to the production truck this season is game coverage producer Brett Opdyke, who has been with Fox Sports Net for five years in the capacity of production manager and producer/director for select college events. Fox Sports Net Florida’s Marlins coverage received a 2002 Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in coverage of a live sporting event.
