Fox Sports Net Announces 2003 White Sox Schedule

103-Game Schedule Include Home Opener vs. Detroit on April 4!

(CHICAGO) – The 2003 Chicago White Sox, led by perennial AL MVP candidate Magglio Ordonez (career highs of 38 HR, 135 RBI in ’02), All-Star Paul Konerko (27 HR, 104 RBI), a lethal 1-2 starting punch of newcomer Bartolo Colon (20-game winner in ’02) and 19-game winner Mark Buehrle, another newcomer in ’02 Rolaids Relief Man Award winner Billy Koch, along with two-time AL MVP Frank Thomas, are ready to give White Sox fans plenty of thrills this summer and Fox Sports Net will be there all season long as the south siders make their drive toward a division championship. This year, fans can look forward to 103 White Sox telecasts (one spring training and 102 regular season), featuring 13 battles against their AL Central Division nemesis, the Minnesota Twins.

The first of 102 live, regular season White Sox games can be seen on Wednesday, April 2 at 1:00 PM when the White Sox and manager Jerry Manuel travel to face the division rival Kansas City Royals. The White Sox-Royals game, along with every White Sox game on FSN this season, will be preceded by ATA White Sox PRE and immediately followed by Dodge of Midlothian White Sox POST.

In addition to televising two of the team’s first three games of the 2003 season at Kansas City, Fox Sports Net will carry the White Sox home opener against another AL Central Division foe, the Detroit Tigers live from U.S. Cellular Field on Friday, April 4 at 3:00 PM (a special one-hour edition of ATA White Sox PRE starts at 2:00 PM).

Prior to the start of the regular season, Fox Sports Net will bring Chicago baseball fans a special treat with live coverage of the Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs in spring training action on Friday, March 14 at 2:00 PM (ATA White Sox PRE begins at 1:30 PM) from Tucson, AZ.

Plus, before the regular season starts up, Fox Sports Net will give White Sox fans an inside look at this year’s team with the 2003 White Sox Season Preview Special premiering Saturday, March 22 at 5:00 PM. The one-hour preview of the 2003 season includes profiles on players, analysis of off-season changes, spring training developments and interviews with a number of White Sox players and coaches. This special will be repeated on March 23 at 3:30 PM and March 30 at 12 noon.

Ken “Hawk” Harrelson begins his 14th-straight season as play-by-play announcer for all Fox Sports Net telecasts and teams up with former White Sox outfielder Darrin Jackson for the fourth-straight year. FSN’s pre/post-game studio tandem throughout the season features Damon Andrews and former White Sox slugger Bill Melton.

“Coming off a strong finish at the end of last season, along with acquiring a number of solid players during this off-season, we can’t wait for the 2003 White Sox campaign to begin so we can provide our viewers with the most comprehensive coverage of this exciting, young ball club,” said James J. Corno, Fox Sports Net Chicago’s Senior Vice President/General Manager. “From our expert game, pre-game and post-game coverage, our viewers are guaranteed to have an exceptional night of sports entertainment viewing every time they watch a game on Fox Sports Net.”

White Sox fans will be treated to the very best match-ups on this year’s schedule, including two interleague, cross-town match-ups against Sammy Sosa and the Chicago Cubs on Fri., June 27 & Sun., June 29 at 1:00 PM from U.S. Cellular Field (an expanded edition of ATA White Sox PRE begins at 12 noon for the June 27 game). Plus, as part of the Cubs season schedule on FSN, fans will also be able to watch an additional White Sox-Cubs regular season battle on Fri., June 20 at 2:20 PM live from Wrigley Field.

This summer’s White Sox schedule on Fox Sports Net will encompass 49 home games and 53 road contests during the regular season.
