(SUNRISE, FL) – FSN Florida today announced its Tampa Bay Devil Rays 2005 regular season telecast schedule. (Complete Rays’ regular season cable telecast schedule follows; an exclusive two game Spring Training schedule was previously announced).
FSN Florida’s regular season coverage begins on Opening Day, Monday, April 4 at 4:00 PM, when the Tampa Bay Devil Rays host the Toronto Blue Jays at Tropicana Field. The complete 75-game regular season schedule will be the only Rays games telecast throughout the entire state. FSN Florida is available throughout Florida on over 150 cable systems plus Direct TV and the Dish Network.
FSN Florida’s telecast schedule features 40 home and 35 away match-ups with highlights including 10 games against the defending World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, 10 meetings with the New York Yankees and 7 games with the Baltimore Orioles. Interleague match-ups include home games against the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers with road games against the Cincinnati Reds.
Calling the action for Rays’ games for the eighth consecutive season is the broadcasting team of Dewayne Staats and Joe Magrane. Working together on FSN Florida since the team’s inaugural season in 1998, Staats and Magrane have been the only television announcers in Rays’ history. Staats, a 30-year veteran of television and radio, anchors the Emmy-Award winning telecast, as play-by-play announcer. Magrane, who played in the Major Leagues for ten years, returns for an eighth season as color analyst with his trademark insight and sense of humor.
FSN Florida will once again produce a total of 140 Rays games for the regional sports network and the Rays Television Network during the 2005 season. Producer/director Thom Hastings returns for his eighth season with the team and his 23rd directing live professional sports events. FSN Florida remains the exclusive provider of RAYS ON DECK, the 30-minute pre-game show broadcast prior to each away game and for an abbreviated 15-minutes for home games televised on FSN Florida.
