(SUNRISE, FL) – FSN Florida, the exclusive television rights holder for Florida Marlins baseball, today announced its 2005 regular season telecast schedule. (Complete Marlins’ regular season telecast schedule follows; an exclusive three game Spring Training schedule was previously announced).
FSN Florida’s regular season coverage begins on Opening Day, Tuesday, April 5 at 3:30 PM when the Florida Marlins host the Atlanta Braves at Dolphins Stadium. The complete 95-game regular season schedule will be the only Marlins games telecast throughout the entire state. FSN Florida is available throughout Florida on over 150 cable systems plus Direct TV and the Dish Network.
FSN Florida’s telecast schedule features 46 home and 49 away match-ups with highlights including 11 games against the Philadelphia Phillies, 10 games against Washington Nationals and 9 meetings with the New York Mets. Interleague match-ups include home games against the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers; with road games against the Anaheim Angels and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Tommy Hutton, who spent twelve years in the Major Leagues as a first baseman, returns to the FSN Florida broadcast booth in 2005 for his ninth season as the Marlins’ television analyst. An announcement on the new Marlins’ television play-by-play announcer to replace Len Kasper, who called the action for the past three seasons and was recently hired as the voice of the Chicago Cubs on WGN, is forthcoming. Craig Minervini is back for his fourth season as the in-game reporter and host of MARLINS ON DECK, the 30-minute pre-game show televised prior to each game telecast on FSN Florida. Minervini also hosts MARLINS WEEKLY, an in-depth weekly magazine show that airs every Saturday at 10:30 AM during the regular season.
FSN Florida will produce a total of 141 regular season Marlins games for FSN Florida and broadcast television during the 2005 season. Director Jim Holly returns for his eighth season with the team and his 17th directing live professional sports events. Brett Opdyke, who has been with FSN Florida for seven years in the capacity of production manager and producer/director for select college events comes back for a third season as the game coverage producer. FSN Florida’s Marlins coverage was nominated for three 2004 Emmy Awards for outstanding achievement producing a sports program-series and for reporting.
