Janis Unterweiser Promoted to Vice President, Music Planning and Acquisitions Jan Diedrichsen Upped to Vice President, Affiliate Marketing
(San Francisco, CA, April 3, 2005) – Cablevision Sports and Music Networks President Andrea Greenberg announced that two well-known industry veterans will assume new roles in the senior executive team of rapidly-expanding Fuse network. Janis Unterweiser is being promoted from Director to Vice President, Music Planning and Acquisitions, while Jan Diedrichsen is being raised to Vice President in Affiliate Marketing. These promotions come on the heels of two other important appointments to Fuse’s senior management team – the naming of Former TV Guide Television Group executive Bill Rosolie as Senior Vice President, Advertising Sales and Joe Glennon as Senior Vice President, Distribution. The announcement was made here today at the NCTA Convention.
The musically adventurous Unterweiser is one of the executives who played a key role in the transformation of muchmusic USA to Fuse. Unterweiser’s skill at listening for signals from the music underground and viewers has helped her and the network be the first to give major play to such breakthrough artists as My Chemical Romance, The Killers and Story of the Year and championing independent acts like Switchfoot, Coheed & Cambria & Brand New before they had major label success. She created a music identity for Fuse by throwing away the traditional music programming playbook and developing a fresh network with music discovery at its foundation. She has lead the way on web-to-air technology, supervising one of the most consistently watched shows on the network, “Dedicate Live,” and been instrumental in making “Steven’s Untitled Rock Show” a success. Stepping outside her programming duties she has driven relationships that have resulted in strong partnerships with both the Van’s Warped Tour, Mountain Dew and Alternative Press magazine.
Diedrichsen will oversee the strategic direction and implementation of affiliate marketing, enhancing Fuse’s brand loyalty among key distribution partners. Prior to his current role, he was most recently Director of Marketing for AMC Networks, Central Region office in Chicago, IL, overseeing the region’s affiliate marketing for AMC, WE: Women’s Entertainment, and Fuse. Before joining Rainbow Networks, he had been Manager of Promotions for Los Angeles based Saban Entertainment, which distributed children’s programming such as “The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” “The Tick” and “Life with Louie” to Fox Kids Network and Fox Family Channel.
“Fuse’s leadership is now comprised of not only some of the most talented and seasoned executives in the business, but leaders who have the sensibility and spirit to helm what many think is the spunkiest and sharpest brand in the entertainment television, ” said Greenberg.
“Janis has long been way ahead of the competition when it comes to hearing the voice of viewers and offering the next big music artist before anyone else, “continued Greenberg. “Jan’s ability to develop innovative marketing campaigns geared toward Fuse’s extremely desirable young, tech-savvy viewer makes him an ideal partner for our affiliates These promotions will just expand the potential for the growth of our network and these uniquely talented professionals.”
