Music and Horror Themed Award Show On fuse This October
Special Guest Hosts and Musical Talent to Be Announced
New York, NY – July 24, 2006 – fuse, the nation's only viewer-influenced, music television network, announced today they are teaming up with Fangoria, the number one brand in horror for the past 25 years, to launch the fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, the premiere award show spotlighting the best in music, horror, cinema and television. fuse and Fangoria are teaming up this Halloween Season to honor horror's new generation of spine-tinglers and hair raisers, as well as the icons and pioneers that have influenced and shaped the modern horror industry. This year's fright-fest, exclusively broadcast on fuse, will feature a "black carpet" pre-show, live musical performances by some of the biggest bands in pop, rock and hip-hop and a post-show, Gala of Gore, the official after party that even Hollywood's A-Listers will kill to attend. In addition, fuse will develop exclusive content designed specifically for the network's multiple platforms including fuse mobile, fuse OnDemand and fuse.tv. The 1st Annual fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards ceremony will air in primetime on fuse this October with plenty of post mortem action following the broadcast, available on fuse.tv and fangoria.com.
"The 1st annual Chainsaws create an environment for music lovers and horror fans alike," said Catherine Mullen, EVP and General Manager of fuse. "Many of today's biggest musical acts have endorsed and embraced the genre. Our viewers, who are as down with Freddy as they are Fall Out Boy, will be able to celebrate the sinister and the shocking, and get the chance to see their favorite recording artist rub elbows with the infamous freaks, villains and victims of the big screen."
"Over the years, the horror genre continues to be a powerful force in music, film, television and entertainment," said Thomas DeFeo, the President of Fangoria Entertainment. "It made perfect sense to join forces with fuse to create a credible and compelling award show honoring the best in the business, while remaining true to the genre's loyal fan base."
Recipients and presenters of the gore-fest will come from a variety of platforms including music, movies and television. Award categories range from the traditional, "Best Horror Soundtrack," "Scariest Moment of the Year," "Best Monster," and "Coolest Costume" to the more offbeat such as, "Creepiest Kid," "Best Decapitation Scene," "Most Inventive Product Placement" as well as an "In Memoriam" celebrating those on screen who have been hacked, bludgeoned, shot, stabbed, strangled, or fed their own heart in the previous year.
The Chainsaws will include performances by some of today's biggest bands and special segments such as the "Deathtime Achievement Award" for a legend in horror. In addition, the broadcast will pay tribute to several of the iconic flicks celebrating key anniversaries such as 10th Anniversary of Scream, the 20th Anniversary of Aliens, and the 75th Anniversary milestone of classic films Frankenstein and Dracula.
It has been said that many would die to win an Oscar, an Emmy or a Tony, but our nominees already died for a chance to win a Chainsaw. For more information on the fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, log onto www.fuse.tv or www.fangoria.com.
