AMC Nominated for Three Golden Globe Nominations for the Critically Acclaimed Miniseries Broken Trail

On Thursday, December 14 at 5:00 AM PT/8:00 AM ET, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced their nominations for the 2007 Golden Globes Awards. AMC received nominations for the miniseries BROKEN TRAIL in the following categories:

  • BROKEN TRAIL FOR BEST MINISERIES/MOTION PICTURE FOR TV
  • ROBERT DUVALL FOR BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A MINISERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION
  • THOMAS HADEN CHURCH FOR BEST PERFOMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINISERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

BROKEN TRAIL is set in the magnificent landscape of the waning days in America's West at the close of the 19th century. Veteran cowboy Print Ritter (Robert Duvall) and his nephew Tom Harte (Thomas Haden Church) undertake an arduous 1,000-mile horse drive that takes a fateful turn. As they discover on the trail, the most important journey is the one that takes place inside a person. When Print's sister dies and leaves him all her land and livestock, he comes up with a plan to give his nephew Tom Harte a better chance in life. Print buys 500 horses and together, they embark on a journey from Eastern Oregon to Sheridan, Wyoming, hoping to make their fortune by selling the herd to the Moncrieffes, who are buying horses for the army. It is a bold step and not without risk. After several weeks on the trail, Print and Harte cross paths with a corrupt trafficker taking five innocent Chinese girls to a mining camp, where they will be forced to serve as prostitutes. The girls were sold as servants by their families in mainland China and speak only Mandarin. They do not know the fate that awaits them in their new land.

BROKEN TRAIL garnered a record household rating of 7.7 when it premiered June 25-26, 2006 on AMC. It was nominated yesterday for a Writers Guild of America Award in the long form/television category.

Press statements and interviews with Mr. Duvall and AMC executives are available.
