Veteran Marketing Executive Joins Network to Expand
Its Music Programming Across Its Multiple Platforms
New York, NY – Rainbow Media Holdings, LLC. announced today that Jennifer Caserta has been named Executive Vice President and General Manager of its music television network, fuse. Reporting to Ed Carroll, President, Rainbow Entertainment Services, Caserta will oversee the day-to-day operations enhancing fuse through inventive marketing, scheduling, production and programming strategies across its multiple platforms, each designed to broaden the channel's coveted community of tech-savvy, trend-setting young adults.
Under her leadership, she will oversee the network's commitment as the indispensable destination for programming that dares to be different by offering a window into authentic artists and bands, unorthodox music line-ups, unconventional lives and new talent. The programming will be experienced through interactivity across on-air, online at fuse.tv, on fuseMobile, on fuse On Demand and on its street-front facade located at the network's studios in New York City. Caserta, who is most noted within the cable industry for her groundbreaking innovations in consumer and trade marketing initiatives, will now evolve the brand, maximizing it for its viewers, affiliates and advertising partners.
"Jen has made a huge contribution to IFC – helping the brand to grow and mature while retaining its reputation for being raw and innovative," said Carroll. "Jen's marketing skills, her leadership ability and her experience delivering content across all media platforms make her the ideal choice to lead fuse."
"In today's cable television landscape, fuse is a destination for discovery, where our viewers can not only find music trends, authentic content and technology at their inception, but also be an integral part of our growth. We are a brand that supports unconventional ways of thinking as well as the emerging trends," said Caserta. "I look forward to taking a leadership role, to pushing the boundaries of programming and to bringing our viewers exciting, unexpected content through a multiplatform experience that revolutionizes how they think."
Last quarter, fuse premiered the first annual fuse Fangoria Chainsaw Awards, maximizing all of its platforms to recognize the best in horror, music and film. Last April, the music network launched its original series Pants Off – Dance Off, an interactive dance game show that quickly became an overnight hit. In March, fuse is set to premiere The Whitest Kids U'Know, marking the first time in the network's five year history that it will develop and produce an original scripted series. The ten, half-hour episodes will feature music parodies and sketch comedies and will be executive produced by acclaimed producer Jim Biederman, formerly known for The Kids in the Hall and The Tom Green Show. These series perfectly align with fuse's irreverent brand, making it the premiere destination for viewers to stay ahead of the curve on music, technology and pop-culture programming.
A veteran cable network executive, Caserta joins fuse from IFC where she served as senior vice president of marketing, overseeing all trade and consumer marketing initiatives for the network, including advertising campaigns, promotions and special events. During her two and a half year tenure there, Caserta was one of the key architects behind the network's re-branding to "tv.uncut," which earned IFC the distinction as a Brand Builder by BrandWeek. She also spearheaded some of IFC's largest-ever marketing campaigns, including IFC's tenth year of coverage of Hollywood's "Un-Oscars," the Film Independent Spirit Awards, and developed one of the network's most successful integrated marketing campaigns, Target Stores Cinema Red Mondays, which brought IFC indies to 1,400 Target stores nationwide and earned IFC a Myers Media Innovation & Creativity Award. She oversaw the network's Web site and was integral in developing IFC's Film School Curriculum, a nationwide standards-based education public affairs initiative, and IFC Media Lab, a web/TV integrated program that provides filmmakers a destination for posting their independent films online. Caserta joined IFC in July 2004 as vice president of marketing.
Before joining IFC, Caserta served as vice president of ad sales marketing for Court TV, successfully redefining the Court TV trade brand. Prior to Court TV, she held marketing positions at Oxygen Media, Food Network, Westwood One and the Radio Advertising Bureau.
Caserta earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College. She is an active member of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) and PROMAX. In 2006, Caserta was named by Multichannel News as part of their 40 Under 40, a list of 40 people under the age of 40 who are leaving an deep-seated mark on their companies, as well as cable and telecommunications overall.
