New York, NY – February 11, 2008 – Building on the success of creating quality niche content genres including weddings and the paranormal, WE tv announced today new original series and specials featuring hard-hitting reality and documentary programming that follows the lives of real women doing hard time. The development of this new slate of programming builds on the network's appeal to a large demographic of women with programs that are genuine, provocative and curious.
The new programming includes the original 12-part documentary series Women Behind Bars and a special two-hour documentary, Women on Death Row III. The network will also premiere the Academy Award winning film, Monster for which Charlize Theron won the Best Actress Award for her portrayal as Aileen Wuornos, one of America's first female serial killers. In conjunction with the film's premiere, WE tv will also air the true story of Aileen Wuornos in a two hour documentary entitled Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer.

Women Behind Bars
12, one-hour episodes; premieres Tuesday, March 4th at 9PM EST)
This original documentary series features women convicted of murder who are currently serving out their sentence in prison. Each episode focuses on two different women and explores each woman's personal story about how and why they committed their crime, and what life is like for them now. The series is produced by Burrud Productions.
Women on Death Row III
(Two-hour special; premieres Sunday, March 2nd at 8PM EST)
This two-hour original special brings viewers the dramatic stories of three women, each of whom have committed a murder, confessed their crime and are currently serving death sentences. This is the third installment of the Women on Death Row series to premiere on WE tv. The special is produced by Burrud Productions.
Monster
WE tv premiere Saturday, March 1 at 8PM EST
The feature film Monster is a dark tale based on the true story of Aileen Wuornos, one of America's first female serial killers. Charlize Theron won the 2004 Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Wuornos, a highway prostitute who began murdering her clientele in order to get money without using sex and was later executed for her crimes.
Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer
WE tv premiere Saturday, March 1st at 10 PM EST, immediately following Monster
Nick Broomfield's second documentary on Aileen Carol Wuornos chronicles the story of the highway prostitute executed in 2002 for killing seven men in the state of Florida and includes the filmmaker's testimony at Wournous's trial. The documentary was acquired from Lantern Lane and was produced by Lafayette Films.
