WE tv Asia Digs Into ”Dirt Game”

Dramatic, Six-Part Series to Make its Premiere Outside of Australia on March 12

New York, March 9, 2010 – Australia’s treacherous mining landscape sets the backdrop for a new primetime soap opera coming to WE tv’s viewers in Asia. On March 12, Dirt Game makes its premiere outside of Australia, featuring six riveting episodes and a cast comprised of some of the continent’s finest actors.

Dirt Game stars Joel Edgerton ("Star Wars" Episodes II and III, "Smokin’ Aces") as Shane Bevic, the wary ex-union rep; Gerald Lepkowski ("East West 101," "EastEnders") as Brian Jardine, the notorious UK oil executive; Freya Stafford ("White Collar Blue," "The Clinic") as Megan Kerr, the tenacious lead geologist; Shane Connor ("Satisfaction," "Neighbors") as Max Mees, the cynical veteran miner; and Katie Wall ("Underbelly," "Dangerous") as Caz Cohen, the feisty environmental activist.

Written by Michael Harvey and produced by David Taft and Michael Harvey, Dirt Game delves into one of Australia’s oldest and riskiest pursuits – mining – and chronicles the industry’s men and woman, whose professional and personal desires clash under the pressure of life lived in constant danger. This series, which originally aired in Australia in 2009, was described by ABC News TV critic Sue Turnbull as "probably the most stylish thing on Australian television" in which "the acting is terrific."

Dirt Game premieres on WE tv on March 12, with encore airings on the 15th and 17th. Viewers should check their local listings for the complete WE tv schedule. WE tv airs in Singapore (SingTel’s mio TV), Hong Kong (PCCW’s now TV) and South Korea (Skylife).
