NEW YORK, NY, January 25, 2009 – Wedding Central, the only 24/7 multiplatform destination devoted to weddings, has reached a distribution deal with Mediacom Communications to join the MSO’s channel line-up beginning next month. Mediacom services more than 1.3 million subscribers in 22 states throughout the U.S. Wedding Central will be offered on the MSO’s digital basic tier. Wedding Central is also currently available on Cablevision’s iO digital tier.
"We are thrilled that Mediacom’s customers will be able to enjoy the entertaining and informative, around-the-clock wedding programming on Wedding Central," said Kim Martin, President and General Manager, WE tv and Wedding Central. "We are confident that the network will add unparalleled value to Mediacom’s channel line-up as the only destination dedicated to attracting bridal viewers – young, tech-savvy women that are passionate about all things wedding related and are actively involved in household purchasing decisions and managing their purse strings."
Research shows that the average bridal viewer is a young tech-savvy woman within the W18-49 demo; 36% of these viewers have a DVR and 42% have HD tv1. Furthermore, it appears that weddings are to women what sports are to men. 75% of M18-34 watch sports while 72% of W18-34 watch wedding programming. 2 Even more surprising: the NFL industry is worth approximately $32 billion, while the wedding industry tops out at an astounding $60 billion. 3
Wedding Central is the ultimate television destination for women to indulge in all things related to weddings, dating and relationships. The network’s current programming line-up features series such as Rich Bride, Poor Bride, Single in the City, and the popular hit series, Bridezillas; as well as specials, Wedding Cake Masters, Amazing Wedding Gowns and Unforgettable Wedding Venues.
