Mechelen, Belgium/New York, NY – 1 March 2012 – AMC/Sundance Channel Global announced today an expanded distribution agreement in Belgium with Telenet, a leading provider of broadband cable services. The agreement will enable Sundance Channel to be seen in 1.4 million homes, in both Flemish and French languages. Today’s news follows the announcement from the Sundance Film Festival of a wide array of new European and Asian carriage deals for Sundance Channel.
Sundance Channel was established by Robert Redford and offers audiences a diverse and engaging selection of independent films, documentaries and original programs.
“As our first European launch market just over two years ago, Belgium continues to be a key territory integral to building the Sundance Channel brand,” commented Bruce Tuchman, President, AMC/Sundance Channel Global. “We’re excited to extend our partnership with Telenet to deliver high quality entertainment on Sundance Channel to Belgian audiences across Flanders.”
“Sundance Channel offers our subscribers a terrific combination of independent films, TV series and documentaries that cannot be seen elsewhere,” said Ann Caluwaerts, Senior Vice President Media and Public Affairs of Telenet. “We know that our audiences across Flanders will enjoy this great, new addition to our basic cable channel line–up.”
Sundance Channel is available as a 24/7 linear television service in standard and high definition on Telenet on channel 25 in Flemish and on channel 159 in French. Previously, the network was seen on Telenet in Brussels.
