Successful Franchise Shows Ratings Growth In Challenging Environment
NEW YORK, NY – June 9, 2016 — WE tv’s “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” returned for its fifth season on Friday, June 3 and delivered 1.4 million total viewers in Nielsen live+3 ratings, up 7 percent from last year’s the season four premiere, including 864,000 adults 25-54 – up 14 percent from the season four premiere.
“This is a great start for one of WE tv’s franchise shows, showing growth over last season’s premiere in a challenging ratings environment,” said Marc Juris, WE tv president. “The premiere also coincides with the launch of our completely redesigned WE tv mobile app. Our new app puts puts an emphasis on watching full episodes of our originals and includes innovative features viewers love like ‘GIF in a JIF,’ which serves up fun and socially shareable GIFs from some of our most popular shows while they are on.”
WE tv’s “GIF in a JIF” feature allows users to sync their mobile device to the WE tv original they are watching, based on the audio coming from the television set, and then offers up a steady stream of GIFs as the show proceeds, along with a custom Twitter feed of show-related tweets.
This season of “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” follows Tara Reid and Dean May (Taradise & Big Brother UK), Lisa D’Amato and Adam Friedman (America’s Next Top Model), Michelle Money and Cody Sattler (Bachelor in Paradise), Toya and Memphitz (Toya Family Affair) and Brittish Williams and Lorenzo Gordon (Basketball Wives LA) as they undergo extreme relationship therapy to decide whether their troubled unions are worth saving. Guiding them every step of the way are Jim and Elizabeth Carroll, along with Co-directors Ilsa Norman and David Bishop, who will challenge each couple as they participate in exercises that will push them to the brink physically, mentally and emotionally.
