AMC NETWORKS VETERAN SCOTT COLLINS NAMED SUCCESSOR
NEW YORK, NY (September 8, 2016) — AMC Networks (NASDAQ: AMCX) announced today that Arlene Manos, a key architect behind the company’s success and its industry-leading ad sales growth, will transition from her current role of President of AMC Networks Advertising Sales at year-end to become President Emeritus of the group. AMC Networks veteran Scott Collins, currently Executive Vice President of the division and a long time deputy to Manos, will become President, responsible for overseeing all advertising sales efforts for AMC Networks’ popular and award-winning national cable television networks, AMC, IFC, SundanceTV and WE tv, as well as BBC AMERICA (operated through a joint venture with BBC Worldwide) and BBC World News.
“After more than a decade leading AMC Networks’ ad sales group, it is with affection and pride that I hand over the day-to-day reins to Scott Collins,” said Ms. Manos. “It has been an honor to be part of the team involved with creating what are among the strongest and most respected brands in entertainment. The experience of building this industry-leading team and succeeding in an era of rapid and seismic shifts in the media and entertainment marketplace have been among the most rewarding segments of my career. I will continue to provide counsel to Scott, and I am confident he and this talented team will continue to achieve even greater success.”
“Arlene is one of the most respected and successful advertising sales executives in all of media,” said Ed Carroll, Chief Operating Officer for AMC Networks. “She is a widely recognized industry leader who built our sales organization from the ground up, carefully transitioning each of our brands into ad supported networks and guiding a team that consistently delivers outstanding results. We feel extremely fortunate to have convinced Arlene to continue to provide her counsel and guidance at this time of continued change in the ad sales marketplace.”
Ms. Manos has been president of national advertising sales at AMC Networks since 2002, when she joined the company to launch an ad sales function at AMC for the first time. The following year, Manos spearheaded WE tv’s transition to become a fully ad supported network and was behind the effort to eventually evolve IFC and SundanceTV into ad supported channels. She began overseeing the advertising efforts of BBC AMERICA and BBC World News in 2014, following a joint venture agreement with BBC Worldwide. She joined AMC Networks from A&E Television Networks where she held a number of sales management positions, including senior vice president of national advertising sales. Prior to A&E, she served as an associate publisher of Manhattan, Inc. magazine, as a retail sales manager at WABC-TV in New York, and as an account executive at CBS Cable.
Ms. Manos is a former president and board member of the Advertising Women of New York (AWNY) organization and in 2011, she was recognized as a “Trailblazer Mom” in the AWNY Working Mothers of the Year Awards. She has also been recognized by various industry publications and groups, including Variety’s Power of Women New York Impact Report 2016; as a Multichannel News Wonder Woman; and CableFAX 100 and CableFAX’s Most Powerful Women in Cable.
Mr. Collins will assume the role of President, AMC Networks Advertising Sales as of January 1, 2017. He will report to Mr. Carroll and will continue to be based in New York.
“Arlene’s decision to make this transition is made possible by the strong team that she has put in place, which includes her successor Scott Collins,” said Mr. Carroll. “Scott is a talented executive who has strong relationships across the business and we look forward to having him take on this new role.”
“I’ve learned a great deal from Arlene over the years,” added Mr. Collins. “I am proud to have the opportunity to extend what Arlene has built and to lead our sales team as we continue to leverage our brands and deliver high-quality programming, passionate audiences and genuine engagement with viewers.”
Mr. Collins joined AMC Networks in 2008 as Senior Vice President of Advertising Sales for WE tv, and he has taken on growing responsibilities, most recently as Executive Vice President of AMC Networks Advertising Sales. Previous roles include Vice President of National Ad Sales for NBC Universal Cable Entertainment, where he oversaw ad sales activities for USA Network and the Sci-Fi Channel. Prior to NBCU, Collins was at A&E Television Networks where he served as an Account Executive for A&E and The History Channel. Collins’ early career includes roles as a Senior Account Executive at Eyemark Group W and as a Research Analyst for Nielsen Media Research.
