NEW YORK, NY, March 22, 2018 – AMC announced today that it will make all episodes of its new drama series “The Terror” available to AMC Premiere customers on the night of the show’s network TV premiere. The move follows a similar launch strategy AMC employed for its most recent original series, “McMafia,” which helped propel AMC Premiere to its most successful week ever in terms of new customer additions and viewership.
AMC Premiere customers will be able to binge all ten episodes of “The Terror” commercial free, simultaneous with the show’s linear premiere on AMC on March 26 at 9 p.m. AMC made “McMafia” available in a similar manner, with all eight episodes generating viewership within the first 24 hours of availability.
“AMC Premiere was created as a premium expression of AMC for fans of our shows,” said Mac McKean, AMC’s head of innovation. “Providing entire seasons of shows like ‘McMafia’ and ‘The Terror’ is one of the ways we are continuing to evolve AMC Premiere and make it even more valuable for fans of AMC programming.”
AMC launched AMC Premiere as an upgrade option for Xfinity customers last summer. For an additional $4.99 per month, Xfinity customers who receive AMC as part of their TV package can watch AMC originals commercial-free in real-time and on demand, in addition to a variety of extras and bonus content geared to appeal to fans of AMC shows like “The Walking Dead,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” “Preacher” and others.
Inspired by a true story, “The Terror” centers on the Royal Navy’s perilous voyage into unchartered territory, attempting to discover the Northwest Passage. Faced with treacherous conditions, limited resources, dwindling hope and fear of the unknown, the crew is pushed to the brink of extinction. Frozen, isolated and stuck at the end of the earth, “The Terror” highlights all that can go wrong when a group of men, desperate to survive, struggle not only with the elements but with each other.
The ten-episode series stars Jared Harris (“The Crown,” “Mad Men”), Tobias Menzies (“Outlander”) and Ciarán Hinds (“Game of Thrones”).
