New York, NY – Friday, May 4, 2018– Midway through its first season, the new BBC AMERICA drama Killing Eve has accomplished something that is virtually unheard of in television today – the series has seen an increase in viewers every week since its premiere, growing a total of 33 percent in total viewers and 61 percent in adults 25-54 from its premiere episode on April 8 to the fourth episode last Sunday.
Killing Eve is the only new ad-supported drama in more than a decade to show consecutive rating growth over its first four episodes across total viewers and both key demos. Sunday night’s fourth episode delivered 892,000 total viewers and 386,000 adults 25-54 in Nielsen live+3 ratings.
“We could not be prouder of Killing Eve, or more pleased and gratified by the viewer response to this kick-ass thrill ride of a show,” said Sarah Barnett, president of BBC AMERICA. “From our first conversation with Phoebe to casting Sandra and Jodie, this has been a joy every step of the way and we so appreciate the fan and critical response to this unforgettable first season. We can’t wait to share these final four episodes and are already looking ahead to season two.”
Killing Eveairs Sundays at 8/7c on BBC AMERICA and has already been renewed for a second season. Viewers can now watch the first four episodes on demand, on BBCAmerica.comand on the BBCA app.
Starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, Killing Eve centers on two women; Eve (Oh) is a bored, whip-smart, pay-grade MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn’t fulfill her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle (Comer) is a mercurial, talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords her. Penned by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) and based on the novellas by Luke Jennings, Killing Eve follows these two women, equally obsessed with each other, as they go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse.
Killing Eve was commissioned in 2016 for BBC AMERICA by President and GM Sarah Barnett, and Nena Rodrigue, EVP of Original Programming, Acquisitions and Production; executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris and Phoebe Waller-Bridge who also served as lead writer and showrunner for the series. Colin Wratten is producer and Sandra Oh is an associate producer. The series is produced by Sid Gentle Films Ltd and distributed by Endeavor Content.
