NEW YORK, NY – June 4, 2019 – WE tv announced today it has renewed the hit spinoff “Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition” for a 10-episode second season returning in early 2020. “Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition” debuted earlier this year, averaging 1.3 million viewers throughout its run, making it the highest-rated season in franchise history. It also marked the first time that a member of the “Marriage Boot Camp” franchise family, from Thinkfactory Media, aired as part of WE tv’s Thursday night lineup, which continues to make WE the #1 U.S. cable network for African-American women on that night.
“We are thrilled that ‘Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition’ struck a chord with both longtime fans and new Thursday night viewers to make this newest extension a wild success,” said Marc Juris, president of WE tv. “With our strategic expansion of the ‘Marriage Boot Camp’ universe, we’ve tapped into a completely new and enthusiastic audience for this longstanding franchise.”
The series features famous couples from hip hop’s elite as they undergo intense counseling and ultimately decide whether their relationship is worth saving or whether it’s time to part ways forever. The couples of Season 2 will be announced at a later date.
“Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition” is produced for WE tv by Thinkfactory Media, an ITV America company, and executive produced by Adam Reed, Adam Freeman, Erin Richards, Antonia Mattia and Leslie Greif. Executive Producers for WE tv are Lauren P. Gellert and Angela Molloy.
