As President of Entertainment and AMC Studios, McDermott Expands Role to Include Oversight of Business Affairs, Acquisitions and Scheduling, and Consumer PR
NEW YORK, NY, October 28, 2021– AMC Networks today announced that Dan McDermott is taking on additional responsibilities that expand his leadership role with the company, as its president of entertainment and AMC Studios. In addition to continuing to oversee original programming, production and its AMC Studios operation, McDermott will now also directly manage the company’s business affairs, acquisitions and scheduling and consumer PR functions, which includes talent relations and awards.
“As president of entertainment and AMC Studios, Dan is expanding his role and building from the excellent work he has already done overseeing the development and production of our original programming,” said Matt Blank, interim chief executive officer of AMC Networks. “Dan is a rare talent who has already made a significant contribution here after decades of meaningful work and notable success in this industry. His new responsibilities allow him to have an even greater impact on our continued success engaging fans and driving popular culture through our linear networks and array of fast-growing targeted streaming services, including AMC+.”

In his expanded role, McDermott will directly manage a number of senior executives and their teams including Rafael Gomez, head of business affairs; David Epstein, executive vice president of content and inventory strategy; and Marnie Black, executive vice president of public relations.
McDermott has a long history of demonstrated success in television, He joined AMC Networks in early 2020, after having most recently run the Lionsgate and BBC Studios scripted television partnership. He previously worked at Fox and was DreamWorks’ first president of television, overseeing shows like Spin City and Freaks and Geeks. He has also been a producer, writer and partner in Di Bonaventura Pictures Television.
