Jericho, NY, January 27, 2002 – AMC and Chrysler invite viewers to kick back and enjoy a favorite movie with someone special during the “AMC Movie Dedications” promotion, airing February 9-14, 2003. Viewers will be invited to dedicate a movie to someone special by calling a toll-free number (1-800-AMC-3360). All viewers who call are automatically entered into a national sweepstakes to win the ultimate movie lover’s accessory: a state-of-the-art outdoor hot tub with a complete home entertainment system built right in. The most creative dedications will air in “bumpers” on the network throughout the 8 PM prime time movie.
“As the home base for movie lovers, AMC is the natural place for movie dedications,” noted Isabel Miller, AMC’s Senior Vice President, Marketing. “Inspired by radio dedications, we wanted to give our viewers the opportunity to dedicate their favorite movie to someone special at an appropriate time of the year.” “Designed to appeal to a wide array of viewers, the promotion will reinforce AMC’s ‘TV for movie people’ positioning.”
Sponsored by Chrysler, the promotion runs on-air from January 25- February 14. Solicitation spots will invite viewers to call and record a dedication to someone special. Callers can choose a movie to air on AMC during “AMC Movie Dedications Week,” including: GREAT EXPECTATIONS (2/9); INVENTING THE ABOTTS (2/10); MAN TROUBLE (2/11); INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (2/12); MERMAIDS (2/13); and ROMAN HOLIDAY (2/14). Callers are advised to tune in to see if their dedication is selected to air.
Off-channel media support for “AMC’s Movie Dedications” include full-page four-color ads in Entertainment Weekly and US Weekly, as well as radio spots in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Atlanta. Amctv.com will feature a dedicated page with information on entering the sweepstakes, a schedule of movies and a special section designed to encourage users to call the toll-free number to make a movie dedication.
