JERICHO, NY, May 20, 2002– AMC and University Games, makers of the popular games 20 Questions, Worst Case Scenario and Battle of the Sexes, have partnered to create AMC’s Reel Clues, a movie themed trivia board game. The game will debut in retail stores in May 2002 and will be available at amctv.com.
“AMC has joined with University Games because they are the premiere brand for adult social interactive games, and the fourth largest manufacturer of board games in the U.S.,” said Tom Barreca, senior vice president, new media & development, AMC Digital Ventures.
“Typically, adult targeted games were not beneficial licensing products for our company,” said Steve Peek, University Games. “However, we see the AMC brand as a stamp of approval; an endorsement that this game is a quality product and one that will appeal to movie lovers of all ages.”
AMC’s Reel Clues is an interactive game played in teams of two or more people, designed to challenge players to build their own movie studio. The game quizzes players on their knowledge of movies and stars through five sets of clues called “takes.” Each take is worth five points or “chips.” Once a team has five chips they can buy a “make a movie card.” Each of the four cards represents one category: stars, director, screenplay and location. The first team to collect a card from every category has produced their movie and wins the game!
In taking a player-friendly, non-buff approach, the game is based on the top 200 grossing films of all time as well Academy Award
