JERICHO, NY, JULY 7, 2004 – Can two friends sleep together and still love each other in the morning? In 1989, director Rob Reiner introduced two archetypal characters – Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) – whose friendship would grow to define the lives of a generation in the acclaimed box office hit WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. On Sunday, July 11 at 8:00 PM, AMC celebrates the 15th anniversary of the film's release with a special edition of DVD_TV: WHEN HARRY MET SALLY. The film will air in its full-screen version at 8:00 PM, followed by the MUCH MORE MOVIE version at 10:00 PM.
Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal star as the two friends of the title, who share a ride to New York after they both have graduated from the University of Chicago. The film follows the two characters as they both search for love, but ultimately end up together time and time again. Though opposites, their growing closeness leads them to test Harry's theory that sex will infallibly get in the way of a beautiful friendship.
WHEN HARRY MET SALLY features an Oscar?-nominated screenplay by Nora Ephron, and also stars Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby as Harry and Sally's other best friends. Known for the infamous line, "I'll have what she's having," the film also memorably features segments of married couples telling the true stories of how they met.
Once each month, DVD_TV taps into the cravings of movie people, offering a Sunday movie marathon populated by DVD-like extras, including original programming and rare behind the scenes footage, exclusive interviews and more. Each marathon features at least two versions of a seminal movie – the full-screen version followed by a MUCH MORE MOVIE version. MUCH MORE MOVIE is a letterbox version which provides viewers with little known facts about the movie as they appear at the bottom of the screen. It provides a rich layer of additional detail about the background players, the elements surrounding the production, the casting of the performers, the music, cinematography and much, much more.
