Four New Episodes to Air Back-to-Back on August 18 at 10:00 pm ET/PT
March 21, 2006, New York, NY – AMC announced today that the network will bring back its popular, original show Celebrity Charades, executive produced by multiple-award winners Bob Balaban, Chad Lowe and Hilary Swank. The show will air as a special programming event featuring four new half-hour specials back-to-back on Friday, August 18, 2006 beginning at 10:00 pm ET/PT. Adding to AMC's line-up of original programming, the new specials will feature a variety of guest celebrities "acting out" to raise money for charity. During each show, games are played, dinner is served and viewers get an inside peak into the spontaneity and fun as guests mingle and talk between rounds.
"AMC will continue to build on Celebrity Charades' momentum established during the successful airing last summer," said Rob Sorcher, AMC's Executive Vice President of Programming and Production. "We are excited to be working again with Bob, Chad and Hilary on this project. Celebrity Charades not only offers our viewers a fun, entertaining and humorous show to watch, it is all in the interest of charity."
In Celebrity Charades, two celebrity teams are placed in separate rooms, while a neutral player gives one member of each team a clue to act out. Each clue is thematically linked to a movie-related topic. The first team to correctly guess all ten charades and their overall theme wins the game. Viewers will see fun facts and trivia about the current clue and can keep tally of each teams correct answers via a running score card. Lowe and Balaban will serve as rotating hosts of the show and participate in the various challenges. Featured guests will include Jeff Goldblum, Kathy Najimy, Stockard Channing, Ed Begley Jr., and Penny Marshall, among others.
Celebrity Charades joins a list of strong original network series on AMC, including Sunday Morning ShootOut and Movies 101, providing viewers with original content focused on today's evolving movie culture. AMC's commitment to the original programming genre garnered record ratings growth for 2005 leading to the best year ever in the history of the network. 2005 ranked as the network's strongest year ever in Primetime HH ratings, Household, and A18-49 & A25-54 deliveries. Additionally, AMC ranked among the top 20 networks in primetime performance of key demos.
