New York, NY – June 7, 2012 – AMC Networks today announced the promotion of Steven J. Pontillo to executive vice president & chief technology officer; he was formerly senior vice president of broadcasting, information systems and technology. Based in New York, Pontillo reports to Sean Sullivan, AMC Networks’ executive vice president and chief financial officer.
“Steve’s leadership, energy and business acumen have been critical to building AMC Networks’ infrastructure,” Sullivan said “His contributions to our success have taken on greater meaning as an independent company and as our business has grown more complex. This promotion is a reflection of his hard work and expanded responsibilities.”
In his new role, Pontillo will oversee the strategic use and deployment of technologies throughout AMC Networks, as well as identify new opportunities for technology to assist in the planning, decision-making and operations of the company’s business units. He will also develop and implement emerging technologies and work with senior management to institute effective technological solutions to continue to grow the business. In addition, Pontillo is responsible for the broadcasting & technology, post production and information systems departments.
Throughout his career, Pontillo has held a number of key positions within AMC Networks and its former parent company, Cablevision Systems Corporation, including senior vice president and general manager for AMC Networks Broadcasting & Technology, the company’s network programming origination and distribution business. He was responsible for the technical facility and distribution design of AMC Networks’ programming services; as well as third party clients fuse, MSG Network, MSG Plus, MSG Varsity and numerous other regional and national sports networks. He also spearheaded the design and implementation of the company’s Media Asset Management and Archive system.
Pontillo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the New York Institute of Technology and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of New York.
