AMC’s DVD_TV Series Features “The Terminator” on Sunday, January 18

LOS ANGELES, CA, JANUARY 5, 2003 – AMC’s DVD_TV series continues on Sunday, January 18 with a look at the 1984 film THE TERMINATOR, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton. The film, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, will air in its full-screen version at 6:00 PM ET/PT, followed by a MUCH MORE MOVIE version at 8:00 PM ET/PT and BACKSTORY: THE TERMINATOR at 10:00 PM ET/PT.

Once each month, DVD_TV taps into the cravings of movie people, offering a Sunday movie marathon populated by DVD-like extras, including original programming and rare behind the scenes footage, exclusive interviews and more. Each marathon features at least two versions of a seminal movie – the full-screen version followed by a MUCH MORE MOVIE version. MUCH MORE MOVIE is a letterbox version which provides viewers with little known facts about the movie as they appear at the bottom of the screen. It provides a rich layer of additional detail about the background players, the elements surrounding the production, the casting of the performers, the music, cinematography and much, much more.

BACKSTORY: THE TERMINATOR features new interviews with director James Cameron, producer Gale Ann Hurd, actress Linda Hamilton and Oscar?-winning special makeup effects artist Stan Winston. The $6.4 million film grossed $38 million in its domestic theatrical release and Cameron’s sequel, TERMINATOR TWO: JUDGEMENT DAY, enjoyed a $515 million box-office gross, building one of the most successful film franchises in history.

THE TERMINATOR established the reputation of director James Cameron as a master of action and special effects, and also solidified the superstar status of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1985, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films awarded the movie Saturn Awards for Best Science Fiction Film, Best Writing (James Cameron and Gale Anne Hurd) and Best Make-Up (Stan Winston).

BACKSTORY is AMC’s award-winning series that shines a spotlight on the defining moments in a film’s creation. Cast members, directors, producers and other Hollywood players provide revealing inside “backstories” about the events that affected each film, its success and its stars.

Executive Producer for BACKSTORY: BROADCAST NEWS is Kevin Burns. This episode of BACKSTORY was produced by Prometheus Entertainment and Foxstar Productions in association with Fox Television Studios and AMC.
