New York, NY – 2 July 2013 – AMC/Sundance Channel Global, the international division of AMC Networks (NASDAQ: AMCX), has announced new distribution deals in Asia for Sundance Channel and WE tv. The announcement was made today by Bruce Tuchman, President of AMC/Sundance Channel Global.
Sundance Channel is launching on the DTH platform Indovision. This marks the first time that the network will be made available in Indonesia, and follows rapidly on the heels of WE tv’s launch on Astro, Malaysia’s leading integrated consumer media entertainment group. Sundance Channel is launching as a 24/7 linear network subtitled into Bahasa Indonesia.
Tuchman commented, “We’re very excited to launch for the first time in Indonesia on Indovision, one of Asia’s biggest subscription television platforms and a pioneer in the industry. We look forward to delivering the best of independent-minded entertainment to fans across the region.”
As previously announced, WE tv has recently launched in Malaysia in a partnership with Astro. The network is being made available in HD via Astro B.yond IPTV with Maxis. This expanded agreement complements the 2011 launch of Sundance Channel on Astro B.yond HD.
Sundance Channel offers audiences a diverse and engaging selection of first run original drama and other iconic programming, award-winning and locally appealing independent films and documentaries. In Asia, some first window original series on the channel include hit shows, “Breaking Bad,” “Rectify,” “Mr. Selfridge,” as well as critically acclaimed independent films fresh from this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It is available to pay-TV operators as a standard and high definition linear television channel, VOD service and via mobile and online authenticated streaming. Additionally, select VOD program offerings are available during theatrical windows so audiences can watch films that are still in theatres from the comfort of their own homes.
