Classic Hal Roach comedies to debut August 6

CHICAGO, IL, June 11, 2001 – AMERICAN MOVIE CLASSICS has just finalized a deal
with King World Productions, Inc. for rights to episodes of The Little
Rascals. AMC will air them Monday through Friday, in two half-hour programming
blocks, from 7:30-8:00 AM (ET) and 6:30-7:00 PM (ET), beginning August 6, hosted
by Frankie Muniz (star of FOX’ Malcolm in the Middle). The episodes will
also air on weekends from 8:30-9:00 AM (ET). The announcement was made today
at the National Cable Television Association Convention by David Sehring, Senior
Vice President of Acquisitions and Programming for AMC.
The King World deal brings to AMC 71 classic The Little Rascals
shorts including memorable titles like “Teacher’s Pet,” “Pups
Is Pups,” “Wild Poses” with Laurel and Hardy, and the 1936 Academy
Award
