(CHICAGO) – FOX Sports Net Chicago today announced the hiring of Megan Mawicke and Damon Andrews for the upcoming 11 PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT and The Game Room. The 11 PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT is the nightly, live, half-hour regional sports news program debuting July 17 on FSN. The Game Room is FOX Sports Net Chicago’s comprehensive half-hour pre-game, post-game and local sports news program. The announcement was made by James J. Corno, FOX Sports Net Chicago’s Senior Vice President/General Manager.
Mawicke, who will begin her duties at FOX Sports Net beginning Wednesday, June 21, will primarily handle feature reporting duties covering a variety of Chicago’s professional, collegiate and high school sports stories for both shows. In addition, Mawicke will also share fill-in anchor duties for both shows with Gail Fischer.
Andrews, who will make his debut in July on The Game Room, will primarily handle co-anchoring duties for the 11 PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT alongside lead anchor Eric Goodman. Andrews will also provide feature reports for both shows.
“The additions of Megan and Damon further enhance the strength of our on-air line-up as we prepare to launch the 11 PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT this summer,” said Don Graham, FOX Sports Net Chicago’s Vice President of Programming and Production. “We’re confident Chicago sports fans will appreciate the knowledge and enthusiasm these two individuals will bring to the local sports scene.”
Mawicke, a native of Kenilworth, IL, comes to FOX Sports Net from WBAY-TV in Green Bay, WI, where she served as a sports anchor/reporter since March 1998 for the ABC affiliate. Prior to her stint in Green Bay, she served as a production assistant for the sports department at NBC 5 in Chicago. She received her master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Broadcasting in 1997 and her undergraduate degree in journalism from Indiana University in 1995.
Andrews most recently held the position of weekend sportscaster/reporter at WBAL-TV, the NBC affiliate in Baltimore, MD since January 1999. Before that, he was the main sports anchor at WLMT-TV/WPTY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Memphis, TN.
