(CHICAGO) – Coming off an American League Central Division title and the best overall record in the AL, the 2001 Chicago White Sox, led by AL MVP runner-up Frank Thomas, all-stars Magglio Ordonez and Ray Durham, plus, 20-game winner David Wells, are ready to make another drive to the playoffs and Fox Sports Net will be there all season long. This year, fans can look forward to 100 White Sox telecasts (one spring training and 99 regular season), the most White Sox games covered by any network.
The first of 99 regular season White Sox games can be seen on Monday, April 2 at 12 NOON when the White Sox and American League “Manager of the Year” Jerry Manuel open their season on the road to face their arch rivals, the Cleveland Indians. The White Sox-Indians game will be preceded by an expanded edition of PrimeCo’s Chicago Sports Today (called PrimeCo’s Chicago Sports Tonight for all evening telecasts) beginning at 11:00 AM. The game will be immediately followed by the half-hour PrimeCo’s Chicago Sports Today post-game show, which will follow the majority of White Sox games on FSN. Also, beginning April 2, the Regional Sports Report moves to 10:00 PM nightly and will change its name to the Chicago Sports Report.
In addition to also televising the second game of the season at Cleveland (Wed, Apr. 4 at 6:00 PM), Fox Sports Net will be carrying the home opener, as the south siders host another division foe, the Detroit Tigers, live from Comiskey Park on Friday, April 6 at 3:00 PM (a special one-hour edition of PrimeCo’s Chicago Sports Today starts at 2:00 PM).
Prior to the start of the regular season, Fox Sports Net will bring White Sox fans a spring training game from Arizona, as they face the National League West champion San Francisco Giants on Sunday, March 25 at 2:00 PM (PrimeCo’s Chicago Sports Today begins at 1:30 PM). Also, as part of the Chicago Cubs exhibition schedule on FSN, the White Sox will also face the Cubs in pre-season action on Friday, March 9 at 2:00 PM.
Also, before the regular season starts up, Fox Sports Net will give White Sox fans an inside look at this year’s team with the 2001 White Sox Season Preview Special premiering Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 PM. This one-hour preview of the 2000 season includes profiles on players, analysis of off-season changes, spring training developments and interviews with a number of Sox players and manager Jerry Manuel.
Ken “Hawk” Harrelson begins his 12th-straight season as play-by-play announcer for all Fox Sports Net telecasts and will be joined in the booth for the second year in a row by former White Sox outfielder Darrin Jackson.

White Sox fans will be treated to the very best match-ups on this year’s schedule, including the first interleague match-up of the season against Sammy Sosa and the Chicago Cubs on Friday, June 8 at 7:00 PMfrom Comiskey Park (an expanded edition of PrimeCo’s Chicago Sports Tonight begins at 6:00 PM). Plus, as part of the Cubs season schedule on FSN, fans will also be able to watch an additional White Sox-Cubs regular season battle on Thursday, July 12 at 1:20 PM.
This summer’s White Sox schedule on Fox Sports Net will encompass 49 home games and 50 road contests during the regular season. Highlights include 50 big match-ups against teams in the American League Central Division with 11 games against the Cleveland Indians (April 2, 4 & 11; July 18, 24-25; Sept 1-3, 7 & 9) and 12 against the Detroit Tigers (April 6, 8, 18-19; May 25-26 & 31; June 1 & 3; August 28-29; Sept 5). Plus, FSN will carry four games against the World Series Champion New York Yankees (Sept 11-12 & 18-19) and six battles against last year’s playoffs nemesis, the Seattle Mariners (April 27-28; May 15-17; August 12).
Additional highlights include 73 night games, 26 day contests, plus – Fox Sports Net will provide White Sox fans with a number of games against the AL’s elite including five match-ups against Alex Rodriguez and the Texas Rangers (May 6, 11 & 13; August 15-16) and more interleague match-ups against the NL Central’s Cincinnati Reds (June 12-13), St. Louis Cardinals (June 17), Pittsburgh Pirates (July 7-8) and Milwaukee Brewers (July 15 & 17).
Eight regular season games are currently scheduled to be telecast on Fox Sports Net Plus (see attached schedule). Fox Sports Net Plus (FSN+) telecasts are provided to Fox Sports Net affiliates and distributed to viewers when two live events are scheduled simultaneously.
Through a cooperative agreement with CLTV, inner market cable operators are given the opportunity to place FSN+ games on CLTV. Cable operators who do not carry CLTV will place FSN+ telecasts on a to-be-determined channel.
