SAN FRANCISCO, CA — FOX Sports Net Bay Area today announced it has completed its roster for the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT with the hiring of Emmy Award winner Brian Webber as a reporter for the show. The announcement was made by Ted Griggs, FOX Sports Net Bay Area’s Vice President of Programming and Operations.
The 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT, a 30-minute live local sports news show, launches on Monday, July 31st. The nightly 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT provides heavy emphasis on key local stories and scores, and important national stories and how they impact local fans.
Webber should already be familiar to FOX Sports Net viewers, having served in a variety of roles for the network. Since 1993, Webber has been a part of FOX Sports Net’s (formerly SportsChannel Pacific) on-air team, most recently as host of Stanford Sports Magazine, sideline reporter for Golden State Warriors basketball, and play-by-play announcer for college basketball and football. Webber will continue these duties while reporting for the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT.
Webber has also served as studio host for pre and postgame coverage of the San Francisco Giants, Oakland A’s, San Jose Sharks, and Warriors. In addition, Webber has contributed as a sideline reporter to the NFL On FOX and fill-in radio host on The Ticket 1050AM.
In 1999, Webber received an Emmy Award from the Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his work on Stanford Sports Magazine. “Brian is undoubtedly one of the most experienced sports reporters in Northern California, said Griggs. “He has spent his entire broadcasting career covering the Northern California sports scene. He is very well known and well respected among the local sports fans and the teams he’ll be covering for the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT.”
Griggs added, “Brian’s knowledge and expertise will be instrumental in bringing viewers in-depth stories and breaking sports news from the area every night. We are thrilled to have him join the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT staff.”
“I’m delighted to be staying with FOX Sports Net,” said Webber. “I got my start here and look forward to my expanded role. The 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT will provide Northern California fans with comprehensive coverage of the local sports scene. I’m excited be a part of this new venture.”
Raised in New York, NY, Webber graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Stanford University in 1991. He currently resides in San Francisco, CA.
Concentrating on local sports stories from all corners of Northern California, the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT is a complement to FOX Sports Net’s NATIONAL SPORTS REPORT at 10 PM and midnight, and is followed at 11:30 PM by THE LAST WORD WITH JIM ROME.
Webber joins the roster of lead anchor Paul Calvisi and reporter Mindi Bach for the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT. Other announcements related to the 11PM REGIONAL SPORTS REPORT will be made on a periodic basis leading up to the show’s July 31st launch.
