(SUNRISE, FL) – Fox Sports Net Florida's 2002 college football telecast schedule, released today, reinforces the network's commitment to hometown sports with exclusive coverage of local teams and a full menu of action from around the country to satisfy even the heartiest gridiron appetites. The comprehensive schedule includes 12 University of Miami Hurricanes games, three University of South Florida Bulls match ups and 28 live or tape-delayed Big Ten, PAC-10, Big 12 and Notre Dame contests (complete schedule follows).
Fox Sports Net Florida is the only place to find live coverage of The Eddie Robinson Football Classic, which kicks off the network's extensive national college football schedule on Saturday, August 24 at 8:30pm. The fifth-annual Eddie Robinson Classic pits Iowa State against local contender Florida State University, ranked among the top five teams in most pre-season polls. The game marks only the second time these two teams have met.
The University of Miami looks to defend its national championship and returns to Fox Sports Net Florida for the eighth consecutive season. All 12 regular season Hurricane games, produced by Fox Sports Net, will air on tape delay Sundays at 5:00pm. Important match ups include the season opener against Florida A&M (on FSN 9/1), and meetings with the University of Florida (on FSN 9/8), Florida State (on FSN 10/13), Tennessee (on FSN 11/10) and Syracuse (on FSN 12/1). Frank Forte provides play-by-play for all Hurricanes games on Fox Sports Net. John Congemi will not return as color analyst this season, as he has accepted an opportunity to announce nationally televised games. Fox Sports Net will name a new color analyst for University of Miami games shortly.
After a successful 8 – 3 Division I debut last season, Coach Jim Leavitt and the University of South Florida return with an aggressive schedule in 2002. Fox Sports Net will televise three USF Bulls games, including tough conference match ups with Southern Mississippi (on FSN 10/14 at 7:00pm), East Carolina (Live 10/19 at 2:00pm) and Houston (Live 11/23 at 3:00pm). Al Keck and Doug Graber team up to call the action this year, providing play-by-play and analysis, respectively.
Fox Sports Net will once again showcase the very best college football match ups from the Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac-10 conferences with its 2002 national schedule. With premier teams like Washington, Oklahoma, and Oregon in the lineup, viewers will have an ample assortment of game options each Saturday throughout the college football season.
