Fox Sports Net Florida Announces 2004 Florida Marlins Telecast Schedule

Comprehensive 95-Game Schedule Unveiled

(SUNRISE, FL) – Fox Sports Net Florida, the exclusive television rights holder for Marlins baseball, today announced a 95-game 2004 telecast schedule for the Reigning World Series Champion Florida Marlins. (Complete Marlins regular season cable telecast schedule follows; a three game Spring Training schedule was previously announced).

Fox Sports Net’s 2004 regular season coverage begins on Opening Day, Tuesday, April 6 at 1:00pm as the Florida Marlins host the Montreal Expos at Pro Player Stadium. The complete 95-game regular season telecast schedule features 50 home and 45 away match-ups with highlights including 17 games against Jim Thome and the Philadelphia Phillies, 16 games against Chipper Jones and the Atlanta Braves and 10 meetings with Al Leiter and the New York Mets. Interleague match-ups include home games against the Chicago White Sox and Texas Rangers and road games against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Detroit Tigers.

Returning to the booth to call Marlins baseball on Fox Sports Net are play-by-play announcer Len Kasper and analyst Tommy Hutton. Kasper enters his third season with Fox Sports Net Florida while Hutton, who spent twelve years in the Major Leagues as a first baseman, returns for his eighth season with descriptive color commentary. Craig Minervini returns for his third season on Fox Sports Net as host of MARLINS ON DECK, the 30-minute pre-game show televised prior to each game on the network.

“Between Fox Sports Net and PAX TV, 150 games of the World Champion Florida Marlins will be seen on local television throughout South Florida in 2004,” noted Jeff Genthner, Fox Sports Net’s Senior Vice President and General Manager. “With so many stars from last year’s Marlins team returning, we anticipate an exciting baseball season on the playing field and outstanding television audience ratings.”

Fox Sports Net Florida will once again produce a total of 150 regular Marlins games for Fox Sports Net and broadcast television during the 2004 season. Director Jim Holly returns for his seventh season with the team and his 16th directing live professional sports events. Brett Opdyke, who has
been with Fox Sports Net for six years in the capacity of production manager and producer/director for select college events comes back for a second season as the game coverage producer. Fox Sports Net Florida’s Marlins coverage was nominated in 2003 for an Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in coverage of a live sporting event.
