(SUNRISE, FL) – Fox Sports Net Florida today announced a 75-game telecast schedule for the 2004 Tampa Bay Devil Rays season. (Complete Rays cable telecast schedule follows; a two game Spring Training schedule was previously announced).
Fox Sports Net's award winning coverage of Rays baseball begins its 2004 regular season on Wednesday, April 7 at 4:00pm as the Devil Rays host the New York Yankees at Tropicana Field. The complete 75-game regular season telecast schedule features 33 home and 42 away match-ups with highlights including 10 games against Derek Jeter and the AL Champion New York Yankees, 8 games against the pitching duo of Pedro Martinez and Curt Schilling of the Boston Red Sox and 7 meetings with Javy Lopez and new Manager Lee Mazzilli of the Baltimore Orioles. Interleague match-ups include home games against Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants and road games against the World Series Champion Florida Marlins.
Calling the action for Rays games for the seventh consecutive season is the broadcasting team of Dewayne Staats and Joe Magrane. Working together on Fox Sports Net since the team's inaugural season in 1998, Staats and Magrane have been the only television announcers in Ray's history. Staats, a 30-year veteran of television and radio, anchors the Emmy-Award winning telecast, as play-by-play announcer. Magrane, who played in the Major Leagues for eight years, returns for a seventh season as color analyst with his trademark insight and sense of humor. Fox Sports Net is proud to welcome back Todd Kalas as host of Fox Sports Net's Ray's pre-game show, RAYS ON DECK.
Fox Sports Net Florida will once again produce a total of 140 Rays games for Fox Sports Net and the Rays Television Network during the 2004 season. Producer/director Thom Hastings returns for his seventh season with the team and his 22nd directing live professional sports events.
