Hometown coverage includes the Hurricanes and Bulls
(SUNRISE, FL) Fox Sports Net Florida today announced a 22-game NCAA baseball telecast schedule beginning Friday, February 9. Schedule features sixteen University of Miami contests and six University of South Florida match ups. The announcement was made by Jeff Genthner, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Fox Sports Net Florida.
The 2001 NCAA baseball season gets underway on Fox Sports Net Florida Friday when the Hurricanes host the Florida Gators at 7pm at Mark Light Stadium. The Canes, ranked as high as fourth nationally by Baseball America and led by Coach Jim Morris, will take on Florida in the longest on-going series on the Hurricanes’ schedule. This season, FSN will televise the Canes’ contests against Florida, Oklahoma State, Elon, East Carolina, Northeastern, Cal State Fullerton, FSU, Virginia, Florida Southern and USF, along with FIU in the Homestead Challenge. Calling the action for UM baseball on Fox Sports Net will be Joe Zagackiand Frank Forte. FSN will once again bring Hurricanes fans The Jim Morris Show every Saturday morning at 10:00am beginning March 24.
The University of South Florida Bulls will be highlighted on FSN this season with a total of 6 live contests beginning with the March 13 home match-up against Miami. USF enters its 36th season and return seventeen lettermen and fifteen newcomers. The Bulls, led by Coach Eddie Cardieri, are ranked sixth in the 2001 pre-season poll of Conference USA coaches. Bulls fans can witness their home team face UAB, Memphis, Cincinnati, Southern Miss and Houston live on Fox Sports Net. Jim Louk calls the action for USF for Fox Sports Net telecasts.
