(SUNRISE, FL) – Fox Sports Net Florida and Comcast Cable of Tallahassee announced today that an agreement has been reached which will allow Comcast to carry Fox Sports Net’s exclusive live coverage of Florida State vs. Iowa State in the Eddie Robinson Football Classic as part of a four-day extended sports preview package. Jeff Genthner, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Fox Sports Net Florida, and Rick Seamon, General Manager at Comcast Cable of Tallahassee negotiated the agreement and made the announcement.
“This is an arrangement that will greatly benefit everyone interested in seeing quality sports programming in the Tallahassee community,” said Genthner. “Through this cooperative effort with Comcast, FSU fans in Tallahassee will be able to see live coverage of the season opener against Iowa State and have the added benefit of sampling four days of Fox Sports Net’s great programming that over four million Florida homes already receive.”
Under the arrangement between Fox Sports Net and Comcast, Fox Sports Net Florida’s programming will be seen continuously on Comcast’s channel 78 in Tallahassee from 2:00pm Thursday, August 22 through 12:00am Monday August 26. During this period, Fox Sports Net’s programming highlights include three live Major League Baseball games featuring the Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Devil Rays, live NASCAR programming, two-day live ATP tennis coverage, live coverage of the Cal Ripken Jr. World Series and The Best Damn Sports Show, Period. “Reaching this arrangement with Fox Sports Net is a ‘win-win’ for the community,” said Rick Seamon, General Manager at Comcast Cable in Tallahassee. “Comcast’s valued customers will have the ability to watch this weekend’s FSU vs. Iowa State game in the comfort of their own homes, and they’ll have almost four days to enjoy Fox Sports Net Florida’s other programming.”
Fox Sports Net Florida’s service will be available on Comcast’s basic service on channel 78 in Tallahassee through Monday, August 26 at 12:00am. The live coverage of Florida State vs. Iowa State in the Eddie Robinson Football Classic will be available to Quincy customers on channel 2 temporarily pre-empting The TV Guide Channel.
