Critically-Acclaimed Series Celebrates March Madness with College Basketball-Themed Tripleheader on Sun., April 3 at 6:00PM Local
Award-Winning Actress Ashley Judd to Narrate Special Episode of BTG
FSN's one-hour documentary series, BEYOND THE GLORY, has established itself as a cornerstone of the network's original programming through four seasons of compelling athlete profiles. Now, with the fifth season underway, the Sports-Emmy nominated program continues with the formula that made it a classic in sports television with a unique college basketball-themed tripleheader on Sun., April 3.
This season, BTG is scheduled to telecast 13 all-new episodes featuring the biggest names in sports in addition to chronicling some of the most monumental events in sports history. Now, with March Madness in full swing, FSN offers viewers a chance to experience the excitement of college basketball three-fold on Final Four Sunday. Starting with a re-air of BTG: Coach K at 6:00 PM local, this first episode of the evening follows Krzyzewski's life from his days as a player under coach Bobby Knight to the creation of one of college basketball's most accomplished programs.
Then, FSN airs a new episode chronicling one of the greatest and most thrilling basketball games in college history: the 1992 East Regional Final between Duke and Kentucky. But there are two sides to every story. Driven by heartbreak and shame, BTG tells the story of how this Kentucky program rose from the ashes and regained their glory in this monumental game, even if it meant coming in second. Adding to the excitement, this episode is narrated by award-winning actress and devoted Kentucky fan Ashley Judd. BTG: The Unforgettables – Duke vs. Kentucky airs at 7:00 PM local.
Rounding out the tripleheader, FSN airs a second new episode profiling Michigan's Fab Five. Arguably the greatest freshman class of basketball players in history, this team of five freshman, who advanced to the 1992 NCAA Tournament Championship game, forever changed the way the game was played. BTG: The Fab Five airs at 8:00 PM local.
Other upcoming episodes this season include profiles on the Legends of Poker (April 10), former basketball wonder Manute Bol (April 17), a special episode chronicling the role of Sex in Sports (April 24) and profiles on boxing sensations Joe Frazier, Bernard Hopkins and Larry Holmes (dates TBD).
In previous seasons, BTG has profiled the lives of such influential and significant athletes as Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant, Cal Ripken, Jr., Evander Holyfield, Reggie Miller, Sammy Sosa, the Buss Family and a special episode commemorating the life and death of the legendary Walter Payton.
Asylum Entertainment's Frank Sinton and Steve Michaels return to resume their roles of Executive Producers of the show.
