The irreverent music network will be hosting an exclusive 7th Avenue Drop performance by famed New York heroes The Strokes on January 12, 2006 at the channel’s newly re-vamped studios located on Seventh Avenue in New York. The performance will premiere on January 16 at 9pm ET.
The Strokes will join a plethora of A-List artists who have graced the stage of 7th Avenue Drop including the Foo Fighters, All American Rejects, Unwritten Law, Coheed and Cambria, Story of the Year, Fall Out Boy, Staind and Fort Minor. 7th Avenue Drop is the only show where fans can tune in to see top artists perform tracks off their brand-spanking new albums on or around the week of release.
Recently cited by the UK press as the “saviors of rock n’ roll,” The Strokes will perform songs off their highly anticipated, soon-to-be-released third album “First Impressions Of Earth” which will be released on RCA Records on January 03, 2006. The band will also undoubtedly perform a few choice songs off their two previous releases “Is This It” and “Room On Fire” including their breakout single Last Night.
Cutting their teeth in the New York club scene, The Strokes have become one of the biggest bands both here and abroad. Their legendary live performances and new-wave inspired garage sound propelled them to become one of the most successful bands to emerge in 2001. In 2002, The Strokes received their first RIAA Certified Platinum award for their debut album “Is This It,” and in ’03 their sophomore album “Room on Fire” went Gold. As of September 2005, their forthcoming single Juicebox from “First Impressions of Earth” was leaked online in the UK, forcing the single’s release date to be pushed up.
