Theatrical Co-Release Marks fuse's First Film Venture
New York, NY (June 20, 2006) – IFC Films and fuse, the nation's only viewer-influenced, music television network, announced today that BROTHERS OF THE HEAD, the rock-odyssey feature film by Lou Pepe and Keith Fulton will open in theatres as a co-release on July 28, 2006. The project marks IFC Films and fuse's first co-release and fuse's first foray into feature films. Both entities are Rainbow Media companies.
IFC and fuse will collaborate on all marketing initiatives with fuse dedicating substantial airtime to content premieres, special promotions and exclusive clips. The fuse brand will be incorporated in all film-related advertising and promotional materials and the two properties will work together on securing additional initiatives and creating word of mouth campaigns aimed at the mutual target audience.
Jonathan Sehring, President of IFC Entertainment stated, "IFC has proven itself to be one of the most versatile, open-minded and fluid film distribution companies out there. Not only are we able to cross-collateralize and utilize the resources within Cablevision, we are constantly reevaluating business models and opportunities to better serve the independent film community. In this instance, we have a film which is building remarkable momentum and screening to audience raves. The collaboration with our innovative sister-network fuse adds the extra muscle needed to target the music community and youth demographic to which this film will undoubtedly appeal. It couldn't be a better match or a more welcome opportunity to cross promote and pool expertise."
"Our involvement on Brothers of the Head allowed us to enter into another medium, while maintaining our core mission of providing our viewers with compelling and original music related content," states Catherine Mullen, Executive Vice President and General Manager of fuse. "We welcome aligning our brand with IFC's as they are unbeatable when it comes to marketing a buzz worthy independent release."
Earlier this year, Catherine Mullen joined fuse to lead the network in its programming, marketing and development activities across new media platforms. Since her arrival, she has expanded the infrastructure and led milestone initiatives including the unveiling of fuse's new television studio and street-front marquee across from Madison Square Garden, spearheading the launch of the channel's new music television show Pants-Off Dance-Off; and implementing a new concert special Breaking the Record: Red Hot Chili Peppers.
With BROTHERS OF THE HEAD, Keith Fulton and Louis Pepe (the acclaimed directors of Lost in La Mancha) present their much anticipated debut feature. Written by Tony Grisoni (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), Brothers of the Head is the feverish, mind-bending odyssey of conjoined twins Tom and Barry Howe who were plucked from obscurity by a 1970s music promoter and groomed into a boy band. Grappling with impossible love, artistic rivalry, and a dark inner life, the twins embrace their freakishness and spit it back in the form of searing Punk Rock. Brothers of the Head is a raucous ride through the seamy underground of 70's rock, and an unsettling glimpse into a relationship that is as beautiful as it is destructive.
BROTHERS OF THE HEAD will open on July 28th in New York at the IFC Center and August 4th in select regional markets and Los Angeles at the Nuart with an expansion to follow. The film is also expected to makes its broadcast debut on fuse in the 1st Quarter of 2007.
