New York, NY – December 16, 2008 – IFC announced it has greenlit a second season of "Z ROCK," the network’s original semi-scripted comedy series. The first of 10 new episodes will premiere June ’09.
"Z ROCK" is loosely based on the real lives of three band members – and stars the band itself – who perform as both Z02, a hard-rocking trio striving to make it as a serious rock ’n’ roll band, and The Z Brothers, a musical act at upscale children’s birthday parties.
"’Z ROCK’ has been one of our most popular and critically acclaimed originals of 2008, and we are delighted that our viewers will have an opportunity to see all-new episodes in ’09," said Jennifer Caserta, executive vice president & general manager of IFC TV. "IFC will enter 2009 with a continued dedication and commitment to producing innovative and edgy comedic content that aligns with our uncut brand."
Season Two of "Z ROCK" will consist of 10 half-hour episodes picking up where the first season left off. The guys face rock oblivion, as their hopes of a record deal for their rock band, Z02, are foiled. They soon find that it’s still their upscale kiddie band, The Z Brothers, which pays the bills. At night Z02 performs at clubs and hits on band groupies, while during the day, the group leads sing-alongs at toddlers’ birthday parties and hits on sober society moms.
