New York, NY – October 9, 2012 – IFC Midnight announced today that the company is acquiring all North American rights to director Justin Dix’s sci-fi thriller CRAWLSPACE. The film, with a screenplay by Dix, Eddie Baroo, and Adam Patrick Foster, stars Ditch Davey, Amber Clayton, Peta Sargeant, Nicholas Bell, John Brumpton, and Leslie Simpson. The film was produced by Dix, John Finemore, and Nicholas Sherry, with Greg McLean, James Hoppe, Silvio Salom, Stephen Wools and Craig McMahon executive producing. CRAWLSPACE has its international premiere this week at the Sitges Film Festival and will premiere in North America at ScreamFest on October 18th.
In CRAWLSPACE, a group of elite soldiers infiltrate Australia’s top secret military compound. They quickly discover all is not as it seems and the facility is a testing ground for something far more sinister.
Jonathan Sehring, President of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, said: "CRAWLSPACE is the best sci-fi action film I’ve seen in a long time, from the great concept to production design that would be the envy of Ridley Scott and James Cameron. We are thrilled to be announcing Justin Dix as a new major voice in genre cinema and look forward to distributing the film across all of our platforms."
The deal for CRAWLSPACE was negotiated by Jeff Deutchman, Director of Acquisitions & Productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films with Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
Arclight Film’s label Darclight that specializes in edgy/genre driven feature films is handling all international rights outside of North America.
Greenlight Releasing will distribute theatrically in Australia starting with special late night and festival screenings in early 2013.
