Network Restructures Original Programming Team to Focus on Development and Current Productions
NEW YORK, NY – FEBRUARY 2, 2010 – IFC announced today the appointment of Dan Pasternack to Vice President of Development & Production, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Debbie DeMontreux, Senior Vice President of Original Programming.
In addition, IFC has restructured its original programming team with Pasternack leading the department’s efforts to develop a more robust slate of original scripted comedies and irreverent non-fiction programming. Christine Lubrano, Vice President of Current Productions & Branded Entertainment, will continue to oversee the network’s current line-up of originals in production. Both Pasternack and Lubrano report to DeMontreux.
"Dan brings a wealth of experience creating cutting edge comedy programming as well as a fresh perspective that will help IFC uncover new projects and emerging talent," said DeMontreux. "He joins the network at a time when IFC is poised to produce its most robust and ambitious slate of original programming."
Based in New York City, Pasternack will focus on developing original programming for IFC, including scripted comedy and non-fiction series, mini-series and specials. He will work closely with IFC’s senior management team to ensure that the network’s originals celebrate the independent-minded spirit of IFC’s young male viewers and continue to deliver a unique perspective on topics relevant to its viewers’ lives.
Pasternack began his career as a writer and standup comedian. He has a long history of creative executive positions, working for Carsey-Werner, Studios USA (now NBC/Universal), Granada Entertainment USA and the Fred Silverman Company. Most recently he oversaw content creation for Turner’s SuperDeluxe broadband comedy network. In addition, Pasternack also served as co-producer on the Showtime series "Beggars and Choosers" and executive producer on the Showtime sketch comedy pilot "The Offensive Show," the FX series "Starved" and the Fox network pilot "Frances and Angela." He just recently wrapped production on the new Starz series "Gravity" on which he served as a writer and executive producer.
